Brief Character History
Sasha Schmidt was the easily-bored mistress of Anthony Tonell, the mobster responsible for the hostile takeover of Capwell Enterprises in 1989. Sasha came to Santa Barbara in the fall of that year. It was soon revealed that she knew Mason Capwell through a recent affair in Palm Springs, an affair motivated by Mason's desire to win back the family company from Tonell. Now aware of Mason's marriage and real identity, Sasha slapped him for his deception. Nevertheless, she was in love with Mason and tried but failed to rekindle their affair. She also developed a friendship with Mason's wife, Julia.

Sasha juggled Mason and Tonell for months. Eventually, she sided with Mason and gave him the information she had on Tonell. When Tonell learned of Sasha's betrayal, he was furious and took her and Mason prisoner. The two were rescued, and Tonell was killed. Sasha temporarily moved in with Mason and Julia, but the situation soon became unbearable and Sasha moved out. She refused Mason's bribe to leave town and was hired to sing at Bunny's Lair, a local nightclub.

As 1990 began, Julia had finally discovered that Mason and Sasha were former lovers. Although Julia refused to reconcile with Mason, Sasha finally faced the fact that nothing would ever happen between herself and Mason. Still determined to get his former mistress out of town, Mason set Sasha up to invest in Craig Hunt's illegal gambling boat. When Hunt blew up the boat, she was mildly injured in the explosion. She was touched when Mason implored her to leave the country for her own safety. She soon fumed, however, when she learned that Mason only wanted to get rid of her.

Out of vengefulness, Sasha blackmailed Mason with faked information that could put Julia in jail for the gambling boat explosion. She forced Mason to buy her a partnership in the Lair, begin divorce proceedings and produce a record album for her. Unbeknownst to Sasha, however, Mason told Julia about the blackmail. Together, they launched a plan to scare Sasha away by trying to convince Sasha that Julia was out to kill her. Sasha's paranoia soon got the best of her, especially when Julia scared her with a blank gun and pretended to shoot and kill Mason. Sasha didn't discover Mason and Julia's scheme until after she turned over her fake evidence to Julia.

One night, Sasha tailed Craig Hunt when he met with a mystery man. She panicked when she heard Hunt say she would be killed if she learned of their connection. When Hunt went after Sasha, she was frightened and called Ethan Asher, the D.A. Just as she arrived at Ethan's office, she was mistakenly shot to death by his crazy wife Laura, who had mistaken her for Ethan.

Following Sasha's death, Laura took the corpse to Julia's place and propped her up in Julia's bed. After discovering Sasha's body, Mason and Julia hid her in the freezer and later a cyrogenics cylinder while they investigated her death. Sasha's estranged sister, Sydney, arrived in town and pretended to be Sasha's ghost for a while in order to scare Mason and Julia. Eventually, Laura was tied to Sasha's murder and sent to prison.
