Premise
Robert exposed Tonell's organization with a microfilm listing Tonell's mob connections. Robert was now a marked man and planned to return to Las Sirenas. Kelly loved Robert and wanted to tag along, but he refused. In order to protect her, he lied to her that he was still obsessed with her sister, Eden, and that he didn't want Kelly. Needless to say, Kelly was extremely hurt.
Transcript

Kelly: (disbelieving) You're lying. You have to be. I would have known if you were just stringing me along. I don't believe you.

Robert: (adamant) Believe whatever you like. It's not going to change a thing.

Kelly: Was she always there? Even when you saw me as someone besides my sister's shadow, or was that just my imagination too? All the time we spent together. The fighting, the arguing, the working together. Was she there when we made love?

Robert is silent.

Kelly: Answer me!

Robert: She never left.

Hurt and angry, Kelly slaps him.

Kelly: You bastard! You could have just let me down easy. You didn't have to string me along. Maybe, maybe you thought that you would actually fall in love with me. Or maybe you just thought you could get while you could, all you could, while it lasted. Eden did not do this to you. You did it to yourself. She's your excuse. She's the way that you explain yourself. What the hell does that make me? You are pathetic, Robert, pathetic and I want to tell you to go straight to hell, but you're already there. You don't have anybody left. I was your last best hope. If only you had the guts to hope. But no, you'd rather move around from place to place wondering what should have been or what could have been or what would have been, if only if... You fill in the blanks. You've had enough practice and you'll have a lifetime more.

Kelly leaves in anger, having hurt Robert with her words. In the next scene, he throws a picture of Eden in the burning fireplace and sadly leaves town.
