Brief Character History

Despite his tough exterior, Reese was very sensitive on the inside. He had a loving relationship with his daughter B.J. However, Reese and his son Sawyer couldn't seem to be in the same room without sparks flying. Much of the tension stemmed from the fact that Sawyer wanted to become a boxer. Reese disapproved of this because he himself had accidentally killed a man during a boxing match.

The plot thickened with the arrival of Frank Goodman, Reese and Jodie's close friend from Florida. Soon, everyone found out that B.J. had been sexually abused by Frank as a child. Frank was subsequently shot and killed. To make matters worse, Sawyer became the prime suspect in the murder and was forced to go on the run.

Unbeknownst to Reese, Cruz turned out to be B.J.'s real father. Cruz began to believe that B.J. was Frank's killer, and in an attempt to take the blame for his daughter, fled town after confessing to the murder. NBI agent Connor McCabe didn't believe Cruz's confession and suspected that Cruz was B.J.'s father. Reese had DNA tests done to prove Connor wrong, only to learn that he really wasn't B.J.'s father. He got very upset and left Jodie.

Reese found comfort with a young woman named Andie Klein. Andie was in love with Reese, but his heart still belonged to Jodie. A crazed Andie believed that Reese would love her if there was no Jodie, so she planned to kill her rival. She was caught in time by Connor. In the final episode, Reese and Jodie reconciled when B.J. married Warren Lockridge. B.J. never found out that Reese wasn't her biological father, and it was Reese who walked her down the aisle.
