JOE MARINELLI
Bunny Tagliatti, 1988-90

Joe Marinelli was born on January 21, 1957 in Connecticut. He earned his B.F.A. degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and also studied at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Early in his career, he had guest spots on TV shows like Cagney & Lacey, Hill Street Blues and L.A. Law.

On Santa Barbara, Joe portrayed Bunny Tagliatti, a tough-guy gangster who also happened to be a transvestite. For this offbeat role, Joe garnered enormous attention as well as a Soap Opera Digest Award in 1990.

Interestingly enough, Joe was supporting himself as a carpenter when he was tapped by Santa Barbara in 1988. As it happened, one of Joe's construction co-workers was the brother of Jill Farren Phelps, SB's executive producer at the time. She saw him guest-starring on L.A. Law the year before, and remembered him when SB was looking to cast Bunny.

Soap fans may also remember Joe as Pauly on Guiding Light and Sorel on General Hospital.
