Character History
Beautiful and independent, Maggie Gillis was a
member of the police force who worked with Cruz
Castillo. She first appeared during the drama
that saw Peter Flint
holding several people hostage at the Perkins house. At her own insistence,
Maggie put a plan into action that involved disguising herself as Peter's
ex-fiancée Kelly Capwell and
getting within firing range of the deranged man. But just as Maggie was
about to fire, she froze and couldn't go through with her assignment,
which led to the death of Joe
Perkins. As Maggie fretted that her career as a policewoman was in
jeopardy, she was befriended by hunky Warren Lockridge.
Although Maggie was given a desk job following the hostage crisis, she proved herself as a worthy cop when she thwarted a robbery at the State Street Bistro. Then, on Cruz's orders, Maggie investigated and moved in next door to Lindsay Smith, a suspect in the murder of Channing Capwell Jr. Unfortunately, Lindsay caught Maggie when she broke into his apartment. Meanwhile, Maggie and Warren were getting closer. Later, Warren was shocked to learn that Maggie was a married woman. Her husband, Ben Gillis, was a mute invalid because of a work-related accident at Capwell Enterprises and Maggie was determined to get justice for him. Mason Capwell, during a rough time with his father, agreed to take on Maggie's lawsuit to prove that Capwell Enterprises was negligent in Ben's accident. Maggie refused a settlement offered by the company and worked with Warren to check out several leads in the case. Out of loyalty to her catatonic husband, Maggie tried to fight her attraction to Warren. Eventually, however, the pair made love. Although Maggie had Ben committed to an institution, her romance with Warren soon fizzled out. She was last seen after arresting an innocent Ted Capwell for the rape of Christie Duvall. |
