TERRY LESTER
Mason Capwell, 1989-90

Terry Lester was born on April 13, 1950 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from DePauw University with a degree in political science. Later, during a stint in the Army, Terry was assigned to Washington, D.C., where he taught Russian. While there, he appeared in his first movie, Airport 1975.

Following his Army stint, Terry moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career. He soon appeared in many series, including Ark II, Dallas and Eight Is Enough, as well as the telefilm In Self Defense with Linda Purl.

Terry's big break came in 1980 when he was hired to play Jack Abbott on the daytime drama The Young and the Restless. He was nominated four times for an Outstanding Lead Actor Emmy for his work on Y&R. In 1989, he left the show and replaced Lane Davies as Mason Capwell on Santa Barbara. His last soap role was as the troubled Royce Keller on As the World Turns from 1992-94.

Terry was an accomplished pianist, composer and vocalist. He appeared in various musicals and plays. In later years, he also had guest spots on shows like Star Trek: Voyager and Walker, Texas Ranger.

Sadly, Terry has since passed away. He died at home from a pair of heart attacks on November 28, 2003. He was 53.
