Transcript

When Ted arrives at the gazebo, he finds a caged pet pigeon, along with a note. Ted reads it and smiles.

Ted: "I'm back." Who else could it be, huh?

Laken: Hello Ted.

Ted turns around and sees his ex-girlfriend standing there.

Ted: Laken.

He looks at her, shocked. She just smiles at him.

Laken: Aren't you going to say something? Are you just going to stand there?

Ted: Yeah, hi!

They share a warm hug.

Laken: That's better!

Ted: You look great.

Laken: Oh, you approve?

Ted: You bet. I'm sorry. You kinda surprised me.

Laken: Surprised you? I guess so. Oh, and you're married now, too, aren't you?

Ted: Yeah.

Laken: Yeah, I heard all about it. Hayley's her name, right?

Ted: Yeah. Hayley.

Laken: That's great. That's terrific. You can have the pigeon as a wedding gift. You can send me notes with it like you used to. I tried to find one who could type and take dictations, but you know how hard they are to find these days.

Ted: Yeah. So, where's your husband?

Laken: My husband?

Ted: Yeah. Last time we talked to you, you said you were getting married.

Laken: Oh, the ski bum. Right. That didn't actually work out.

Ted: Oh, I'm sorry about that.

Laken: Don't be. I'm not. After we split up, I went to New York for a while, lived with my mom. I guess I was there for about six months or so. Have you ever been to New York?

Ted: A long time ago. Just for a little while.

Laken: It's amazing how a city can take a person and really change them. Make them a survivor when they don't even feel like surviving. I really loved it there. But spring came and I wanted to see my daddy.

Ted: Oh, so you're just going to be visiting for a little while?

Laken: Did I say that?

Ted: No, I just assumed...

Laken: If I'm needed here, I'll stay. So I just have to decide how much my daddy needs me.

Ted: Well good. I'm glad you came by.

Laken: I haven't seen anybody else yet. Not even my father. I wanted to tell you first that I was back in town. I can't wait to meet your wife! I bet she's really something.

Ted: She is. She's a terrific girl.

Laken: You look pretty terrific too.

Ted: Thank you.

Laken: We have to get together soon. With Hayley, of course.

She gives him a kiss on the cheek and they say bye bye.
