1987Shirley Anne Field was born on June 27, 1938 in Lancashire, England. A war waif reared in an orphanage, Shirley Anne initially worked as a model. Later, after a series of photogenic walk-on roles, she was selected by Laurence Olivier for a featured role in the 1960 film The Entertainer. Immediately thereafter, she appeared opposite Albert Finney in the landmark film Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. Shirley Anne has appeared in a lot of British cinema over the years, including Peeping Tom, Alfie, My Beautiful Laundrette and Hear My Song. She also has considerable theatrical and TV credits to her name. An occasional visitor to American shores, Shirley Anne appeared on Santa Barbara as Pamela Capwell Conrad and the 1989 film Shag. Shirley Anne is divorced and has one daughter. Her autobiography, A Time for Love, was released in 1991. |
