Character History
The mysterious Elena Nikolas made her first appearance as Cruz
Castillo and Eden Capwell were planning to get married in Utah. When
Eden flew ahead to Utah, Elena followed her and posed as a hitchhiker to
get in the car with her. She then knocked Eden unconscious, threw her over
a cliff and left her for dead. With Eden out of the way, Elena blew up
Eden's plane to make everyone believe that Eden was dead. Cruz and the
Capwells were devastated.
Now going by the name of Eleanor Norris, Elena arrived in Santa Barbara and started keeping close tabs on Cruz. She slowly ingratiated herself in Cruz's life and got herself hired (along with Pearl Bradford) at his new detective agency, The Last Resort. She had sex with Pearl to keep him from being suspicious about her references. To further cover her tracks, she killed a private investigator looking for the real Eleanor Norris, who had been reported missing. Soon, it became clear that Elena had a vendetta against C.C. Capwell and was plotting to kill all of his children. She had Mason kidnapped and tortured by an Indian named Willie to get Mason to sign papers turning his fortune over to Jeffrey Conrad. She also tried to harm Kelly. Meanwhile, Elena seemingly turned out to be the daughter of newcomer Dr. Alex Nikolas and Pamela Capwell Conrad. Later, however, Elena admitted to Alex that she knew C.C. was her real father. Obsessed with Cruz, Elena attempted to seduce him, but he rejected her. Then, Eden returned to Santa Barbara, having been held captive by a mountain man named Cain for months. Elena berated Cain, her cohort, for not carrying out her orders to kill Eden in Utah. When Cain was shot and ended up with amnesia, Elena made several attempts to murder him to cover her tracks. One time, she fired gunshots after entering the Capwell winery where Cain had been hiding. Cruz became suspicious of Elena and got the two of them stuck in a meat locker to get her to confess. The plan didn't work. The jig was finally up when Cain remembered Elena's real name and that she had brainwashed him to help her get rid of Eden. Now that the truth was known, Elena started to prepare for the end by framing Cruz for her murder. She lured both Cruz and C.C. to the Laser Palace, where a shot rang out. Mortally wounded, Elena died in C.C. arms. Her last words were: "Cruz killed me, Daddy." Following Elena's death, Cruz was prosecuted for the crime. Eventually, Alex Nikolas admitted that he accidentally killed Elena when he tried to take a gun away from her. He also revealed that Elena had killed the real Eleanor Norris. Soon after, Kirk Cranston, Eden's deranged ex-husband, revealed that Elena was his cohort and that she had killed herself. Despite her relatively brief appearance, Elena Nikolas most definitely left an impression and was one of Santa Barbara's most popular villains. |
