DE JESUS
Santana Andrade,
1991-92A first generation American of Puerto Rican heritage, Wanda De Jesus was born on August 26, 1958 in Manhattan, New York. At the age of 13, she was accepted to the High School of Performing Arts. After high school, she attended The Leonard Davis Center and acquired a B.F.A. degree. From there, Wanda began appearing on stage in several theaters throughout New York. It was her work with The Public Theater that ultimately took the actress to Broadway in Cuba and His Teddy Bear, a play that also starred Robert De Niro. Wanda got her first taste of daytime as Gomez on Another World, followed by her stint as Santana Andrade on Santa Barbara. Though her departure from SB appeared to be dictated by storyline (Santana's miscarriage), rumors circulated from the set that Wanda and co-star Jed Allan (C.C. Capwell) were often at odds. Wanda's additional television credits include starring in Mariah, Live Shot, CSI: Miami and All My Children. She also had guest spots on shows like Equal Justice, L.A. Law and Matlock. Her feature film credits include RoboCop 2, Downtown, The Insider, Flawless, Ghosts of Mars and Blood Work. Offscreen, Wanda has been seriously involved with actor Jimmy Smits (L.A. Law) since 1986. |
