NICOLAS COSTER
Lionel Lockridge, 1984-88; 1990-93

Nicolas Coster was born on December 3, 1934 in London, England where his father, a New Zealand native, was a marine commander during World War II. Nicolas attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Later, he relocated to the U.S. where he enrolled in the film school at New York University.

Nicolas has appeared in no less than nine soap operas and made his daytime debut in 1962 on Young Dr. Malone. He then starred on Secret Storm, As the World Turns and its spin-off Our Private World, Another World and its spin-off Somerset, One Live to Live and All My Children.

In 1984, Nicolas joined the cast of Santa Barbara as Lionel Lockridge. His portrayal of Lionel earned him the 1988 Soap Opera Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor and nominations for four Best Actor Daytime Emmys.

His other television credits include appearances on Dallas, The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, Simon & Simon, 9 to 5, The Facts of Life, Matlock and 3rd Rock from the Sun. He also appeared in several movies, including Big Business, The Electric Horseman, All the President's Men, Reds and Betsy's Wedding. In addition, he has done many commercials and Broadway shows.

An active scuba diving instructor, Nicolas founded the Challenges Foundation which teaches physically challenged people to scuba dive and sail. His other work includes teaching acting.

Nicolas has been married to his wife, Beth, since 1982 and they have one son together. He has two daughters from a previous marriage.
