Brief Character History
Strong and charismatic, Brick Wallace arrived in Santa Barbara in October 1984. His first scene came when he met Minx Lockridge, a commanding old lady who had researched his life. She offered him as job at her chauffeur. Brick was puzzled about Minx's motivations, especially when she proceeded to have him handle the family finances.

Brick met and fell in love with the pregnant Amy Perkins, another newcomer to town. Trouble arised when Amy's ex-boyfriend, Jeff, denied being her baby's father and even claimed that he was sterile. Fortunately, Brick stepped in to support Amy during her pregnancy. He moved into the Perkins house to be close to the girl and also proposed to her.

The plot thickened when Brick found Jeff murdered. He also learned that Jeff had indeed been sterile. Fearing that Amy's life was in danger, Brick took her away from Santa Barbara. During this time, Amy gave birth to a baby boy, Johnny, who was immediately kidnapped by her doctor, Dr. Renfro, who was in cahoots with Jack Lee's lookalike cousin, Jerry Cooper.

Dr. Renfro told Brick that Amy's baby had died, but a suspicious Brick didn't buy the story. Before Brick and Amy could learn where the child was, Dr. Renfro was shot and killed. Eventually, with Julia Wainwright's help, Brick and Amy found the baby on the island of New Stailand. In a bizarre turns of events, the child had been crowned King of the island! It was also revealed that Johnny was the son of the King's deceased son, since Amy had mistakenly been impregnated with his sperm.

The King wanted Amy and Johnny to stay in New Stailand, but Brick was against the idea and returned home. Later, Brick had an auto accident and became temporarily paralyzed. When Amy got wind of this, she abruptly returned to Santa Barbara and stayed there. Once Brick recovered, he and Amy got married with their friends and family present.

Soon after the wedding, Brick discovered that he was really Sophia Capwell and Lionel Lockridge's illegitimate son! He had been switched at birth with the Wallace baby by Minx Lockridge, who didn't want her grandson raised by Capwells. Needless to say, Brick was shocked about all of this. But after a short adjustment, he began to accept his newfound parents. Meanwhile, he started working at Dylan Hartley's new casino.

Brick and Amy got into trouble again when evangelist Lily Light protested against the casino. During a demonstration, one of Lily's followers, Hayley Benson, unknowingly hurled a bomb into Buzz's Place, the restaurant where Amy worked. There was an explosion and Amy died. Brick was destroyed. He blamed Lily for his wife's demise and had to be stopped from strangling her.

As a tribute to Amy, Brick wanted to buy Buzz's Place, but he could only come up with $5,000 and Buzz wanted $15,000. Nevertheless, Brick refused to accept financial help from the Capwells. Ridden with guilt, Lily decided to help him anonymously and gave Buzz the money that Brick was unable to raise. The restaurant now his, Brick renamed it Johnny's Place.

A few months later, Hayley Benson was brutally raped. Hayley's scheming aunt, Gina, suspected Brick of the crime and successfully framed him. Brick was arrested, but the real culprit turned out to be Ken, a bartender at Johnny's.

After a brief flirtation with Santana Andrade, Brick started to fall in love with Jane Wilson. Then, Amy's son, Johnny, was abducted. Brick was devastated and turned away from Jane, blaming her for the kidnapping. Fortunately, he was soon reunited with Johnny. Deciding to become a cop, he entered the police academy. But then he broke the rules and allowed Cruz Castillo, jailed for the murder of Elena Nikolas, to see his beloved, Eden. As a result, D.A. Keith Timmons kicked Brick out of the academy. Disappointed, Brick left town with Jane and Johnny.
