1985-86; 1987; 1989; 1990The second son of a sculptor, Joseph Bottoms was born on April 22, 1954 in Santa Barbara, California and grew up there. Following local theater experiences, Joseph began accumulating TV-movie credits. He then starred in the 1974 movie The Dove, about a youth who sailed a small boat around the world. His performance in this film earned him a Golden Globe Award. In 1978, Joseph achieved notoriety for his performance as a Jewish resistance fighter in NBC's highly honored miniseries Holocaust. Following that experience, he was personally cast by Elizabeth Taylor to play opposite her in the television play Return Engagement. In addition, Joseph starred on Broadway in 1981's The Fifth of July and had a memorable role in the Disney film The Black Hole. His TV credits include Santa Barbara, Days of Our Lives, Walker Texas Ranger, Celebrity and The Net. Joseph now runs an art gallery in his native Santa Barbara. His brothers, Timothy, Sam and Benjamin, have also starred in films and television productions. |
