Annie was a fictional character who appeared on Santa Barbara from March to September 1990. She was portrayed by actress Sharonlee McLean.

Introduction
Annie was introduced when the deranged Laura Asher decided to murder her husband, Ethan, and figured that being an in-patient at the sanitarium would give her the perfect alibi. Annie was Laura's roommate and soon told her a story about how she had killed her husband. To keep Annie from catching onto her own murderous plot, Laura drugged Annie whenever she sneaked out of the sanitarium. Unfortunately for Laura, she didn't succeed in murdering Ethan, though she accidentally killed Sasha Schmidt instead. She left Sasha's corpse in Julia Capwell's bed, hoping to incriminate Julia and her husband, Mason.

Crazy Annie
It didn't take Annie long to realize that Laura intended to kill Ethan. She advised Laura not to shoot her husband; a gun would be too easily traced. Laura took the advice and subsequently stole Annie's idea to tamper with the brakes of Ethan's car. Luckily, Ethan survived. Mason grew suspicious of Laura's involvement in Sasha's death, but when he questioned Annie, she covered. Some time later, Laura learned that Annie's husband wasn't dead at all. She made a deal with Annie: they would kill each other's husbands! But Laura went behind Annie's back and sew incriminating buttons from her raincoat onto Annie's. She also made an entry in Annie's diary, making it look like she hated Ethan for hurting Laura.

Annie spied Ethan and his nurse, Shannon Pressman, throwing out the tea Laura had poisoned before. That plan foiled, Laura instructed Annie to drop a radio into Ethan's bath. Shannon's presence, however, thwarted Annie's attempt at electrocution. Per Laura's instructions, Annie then poisoned Ethan's cognac, but Shannon drank it instead and was rescued. By then, Ethan, Mason and Julia suspected that Laura was behind the attempts on Ethan's life. They set up a trap for Laura, telling her that Ethan wanted a divorce. Laura reacted badly to the news and decided to have Annie murder Ethan that same evening. Annie was caught red-handed rigging a bomb in Ethan's house by Shannon, the police and Craig Hunt. Meanwhile, Laura gave herself away and pointed the finger at Annie. Despite the evidence against Annie (the diary and the raincoat), Laura didn't get away with it and was arrested.

Annie was Laura's sidekick
in the sanitarium.

Robbery spree
When Laura's bus, transferring her to prison, stopped to pick up more people, Annie slid into the driver's seat and took off. At first grateful for the rescue, Laura was shocked to learn that Annie was kidnapping her and taking her on a robbery spree. During one of these robberies, Annie and Laura kidnapped Bunny Tagliatti. A series of head injuries caused Bunny to take on different personalities. Annie fell in love with Bunny and was jealous when one of his personalities came on to Laura. Eventually, Bunny regained his memory. Laura threatened him with a knife, but Annie interceded. The police caught up with the trio and arrested Annie and Laura. To Annie's delight, Bunny truly cared about her and slipped her the keys to her handcuffs.

Annie and Bunny
After escaping from the police, Annie turned to Bunny for help. He agreed to hide her, and she started working in disguise as his waitress at the Lair. Still, the police continued to look for Annie. She eventually left Bunny a farewell note, not wanting to be a burden to him. Bunny was saddened by Annie's departure and happy when she returned a few weeks later in disguise. He told her not to run away again and promised to protect her.

When Bunny's friend, Gina Timmons, sensed that she had seen Bunny's waitress somewhere before, he told her the truth about Annie. Annie was arrested soon afterwards, thanks to her ex-husband. Distraught, Bunny visited Annie in prison and refused to give up on her. Bunny vanished a short while later, prompting a concerned Gina to hope he had disappeared with Annie.
