C.C. Capwell,
1986-93A native of New York, Jed Allan was born on March 1, 1937. He originally planned on becoming a radio announcer and started acting when he was in his early 20s. His Broadway credits include Oliver, All American, Barefoot in the Park and several others. He appeared in the film Ice Station Zebra and was a series regular on Lassie from 1968 to 1970. He also hosted Celebrity Bowling during the 1970s and appeared in several made-for-TV movies. Before joining the cast of Santa Barbara, Jed played the very popular Don Craig on Days of Our Lives for twelve years. His other daytime credits include The Secret Storm, Love of Life, Port Charles and the role of Edward Quartermaine on General Hospital. He has guest starred on numerous television shows, including CSI: Miami, Beverly Hills 90210, Walker Texas Ranger, Silk Stalkings and Six Feet Under. Few people probably know that Jed had thoughts of assuming the role of C.C. Capwell well before he left his job at Days of Our Lives. He auditioned to get on SB before its premiere, but his term at Days of Our Lives wasn't over and he couldn't get out of his contract. Jed was married to his wife, Toby, from 1950 until her death in 2001. He has three sons, Mitch, Dean and Rick. Mitch also pursued a career as an actor and once appeared on Santa Barbara as a young C.C. Capwell in flashbacks. Jed wrote a book called Please, Spell the Name Right, which was released in 2004. |
